Sunday School

at St Mary's, Funtington

Above are just a couple of comments made when we asked the children what they liked about Sunday School. At our Sunday School we want children to enjoy coming to church; happy children makes happy parents/carers.

The aim of our Sunday School is to strengthen Christian beliefs and knowledge in a fun and friendly atmosphere. The children explore Christian themes through a range of activities such as games, craft, drama, music and stories. Each session is organised and run by a team of experienced leaders who make the topic/theme relevant to the children's everyday lives.  The leaders are supported by a wonderful group of parents, grandparents and helpers, all whom are C.R.B checked.

A display board in the church room often reflects the theme and children’s work, and any craft produced is proudly taken home by the children!

Our Sunday School is for all school age children. It is held during every Sunday Eucharist in the month (except the first Sunday, which is a family service) during term time. The children spend the start of the service in the Church, normally carrying out a small, fun activity with the Vicar, in front of the congregation. The children then attend the Sunday School in the Church Room, returning to the service in time to join their parents/carers for a blessing. A list of dates and times for Sunday School can also be found in the Church room and the Parish magazine.

We always look forward to new members joining us; both children and any parents who would like to help.

Little Fishes

Little Fishes is specially for pre-school children and their parents/grandparents. We meet in St May’s Church, Funtington at the 9.30am Family Eucharist Services during the School term time. We sings songs, listen to a story, have an activity and return to the congregation during the Offertory hymn.Afterwards we enjoy coffee and a chat in the Church Room.

On the first Sunday of the month we join with the Sunday School at the Family Service.
