More Junior success
From Chris Rule...
Our U15 and U18 Boys both took part in the 3rd Round of the National Cup competition on Sunday.
I am very pleased to report two further successes.
Our U18 side, despite having 4 players involved in the senior men’s 1’s, and a further 5 unavailable or injured (and going to the match with only 1sub), pulled off a fine 4-1 victory away against Southgate having been 1-0 down at half time.
A second half hat trick from Michael Lawrence and one from Chaz Rule saw us home. Three of the 4 goals came from reverse stick shots.
Chaz scored a great a one handed effort beating off two defenders and goal keeper. Mike crashed the top left hand corner of the net for his third, with his second coming from yet another breath taking solo run and then rounding the GK .
Luke Bassett played another blinder in goal stopping some incredible shots from the Southgate forwards and Short Corner routines and when beaten by one excellent chest high drag flick on the post, Babak Brazell was there to deflect high and wide. Despite being outplayed in a very high tempo the first half, the whole side and particularly the midfield and defence put in an outstanding second half performance.
Our U15’s made theirs a far simpler affair. I don’t have match details at present, but the 13-0 away win at Saffron Walden victory speaks for itself. They have now scored 30 goals with only 3 against in their 3 matches.
Both sides are now through to the last 16 being played on 4th March. With the draw tomorrow we are hopeful for home fixtures and some healthy spectator support from the club.
