Junior Update from Chris Rule

The Boys U18 and U15 sides had a successful start to their National Cup campaign on Sunday.

Last years U16 side plus Stevie Jeffries beat Upminster 10-0, despite the absence of 3 1st XI players, whom we hope may now participate now that the 1st XI are out of the senior competition.

Our U15 boys were also short of full strength, missing some county and Divisional players but were still too strong for Southgate winning 13-1.

We are now awaiting the draw for the 2nd round which will take place on 10th December

Our U18 girls received a bye through the 1st round and play their second round match this Sunday at home to Havering at Ravensbourne at 1.30. They would welcome support from the Club. Our U15 girls have already played their second round match beating Brentwood 13-1 a popular scoreline for the U15’s.

Good Luck to all of you in the next round.

Junior Boys Cup Successes.

The Junior Boys had a great weekend in their National Cup
Competitions.

The U18’s beat Upminster 10-0.

The U15'S, with a number of County & Divisinal players unavailable
still managed to beat Southgate 13-1.

Congratulations to both teams.

The Reporter - 8/11/06

UPDATE : Just a further addition to the fixtures this week – the L1’s have a Kent cup game on Sunday at Langley. It’s a 2pm push back and is against Kent Uni – a great excuse to get out of bed and get rid of those hangovers!

A reasonably good week at the top end of the club this week – with both our 1st teams winning and the M1’s wining two in two days. A good comeback on Sunday saw the lads win 4-2 after being 2-0 down, in a game that there were surprisingly few cards! This was preceded by a 2-1 win on the Saturday, so six points from the weekend see them sitting in 4th place and only 4 points behind the top spot – keep it up lads! This week they have an over night trip to Wales, leaving on Saturday night, meaning that Patrick’s will no doubt be a lot quieter than normal. Have fun in the Valley’s!

The L1’s also picked up 3 points against St Albans on Saturday – which means that they too, are in 4th place and ready to launch a pre Christmas onslaught! This week they are home to Cambridge, pushback is 12.30 at Langley Park so all support would be greatly welcomed.

The M2’s have finally broken the shackles and collected their first 3 points of the year, beating East Grinstead 4-2 on their own turf! In a game that we dominated, the guys said that it could even have been a bigger margin but for some lacklustre finishing! Good work and I hope the season turns around from here on in as this week see them take on Guildford at Langley – pushing back after the L1’s at 2pm.

A special mention goes to the L4’s who have continued on their unbeaten run of 6 games (wining 5) and scoring 19 goals! This taking them to joint top of the league. I have been informed that this current run is down to some exciting youngsters, some of which are playing their first season of senior hockey and the more senior players offering experience and cool heads! Good work – keep it up!

I just like to take the opportunity to thank all of those who put effort into making the Fireworks night such a success. Most teams providing people to help out and Alex Bezant organising the cake/sweet/sparkler stall – the cake stall being very popular with Jonesy – I honestly don’t believe that the cakes needed to be that strenuously tested before going on sale mate! I seem to remember there being lots of drunk, sorry, ‘Happy’ people around the bar area all night, so hopefully a few quid went over that all night! Once again – thanks to all that lent a hand on the night and in the organisation! I’m not too sure what the next event is – but, I’m assuming that the Xmas Disco can't be far away – so get that costume ready!

Any news, gossip, look-a-likes or anything you think is interesting – then send me a mail at reporter@brombeckhc.co.uk and I’ll look into it!

Oh, and it’s my birthday today – so celebrating it this Saturday at the club – no doubt moving to Pat’s at some point – so your all welcome to come down and buy me a drink!

Match day programmes

I've finally got round to making copies of some of our Matchday programmes, they are in Adobe Acrobat (PDF) format, and are about 600kb (less than a minute on broadband/the office), or a couple of minutes over dial-up.

Ipswich - 21/10/06

Oxford Hawks - 5/11/06
