New lookalikes

Update 2: coming in thick and fast now - Danny Mac via the reporter has sent another lookalike - nice work the Hoff !

Update
: John Micklewright via Rob Hill and Mike Bluett has sent a couple more lookalikes - nice work John !

OK, start of a new season, there must be some new lookalikes, well Chris Mcneill has a keen eye, a great new lookalike spotted while she was on holiday in the canary islands - there's dedication for you. I've also found a new one, after watching the Ryder cup.

Anyone interested in buying our Golf ?

UPDATE : Looks like it's sold - that didn't take long !

As recently reported the Wharton household has recently increased in size, so we're buying a larger car.

We're selling our VW Golf, turbo Diesel, it's on Auto Trader for £11,500, but I'm sure I could do a deal for a fellow club member. It's a great car, 150 BHP, always around 50mpg, 3 years old, taxed and MOT until May next year, and 30,000 miles, here's the Auto Trader web ad, let me know if you're interested golf@wnc.co.uk.

Are you interested in helping with the website ?

As life in the Wharton household is a little hectic at the moment, and we're trying to make the website little more professional (!) is there anyone interested in helping out with the website. I'm looking in a couple of specific areas :

1. A weekly preview (like my post of a couple of days ago) listing who, where and when are our top teams (men's, women's and juniors) are playing, and if possible a little background on our opposition.

2. A weekly review of the weekends games, and any highlights (scorers, saves, incidents etc.).

3. Anyone wishing to write regular match reports, for their side. The London league sides already have this functionality built in to fixtures live, but if your team doesn't, we can easily setup up a reports page for your side, this could be any of the Kent league sides or any of the junior sides.

4. Finally is anyone interested in helping with the men's 1's match day programmes for home games, Mike has now got a template, but if you're interested in writing an editorial or generally helping out please let us know - enquiries@brombeckhc.co.uk

Winning starts

I'm glad to report that all our top four senior sides won this weekend. Both the Men's 1's and Women's 1's started their league campaigns with a win, the women with a 5-3 win over Sudbury, and the Men's with a slightly nervous 3-2 win over a decent Whitchurch sides, goals from Pagey, Howesy and Butler. I even managed an outing with Jo and Noah for his first hockey game, and even uncle Nev was well behaved and didn't swear too much...

Wins also for the women's 2's (league) and men's 2's (friendly)

Let battle commence

So here we go again..

The season starts this weekend for both our first teams. In our second year as a merged club we play our first National League game. The Men's first team take on Whitchurch, the only Welsh side in the national (!) league who are based in Cardiff. They finished 4th in this league last year, so should be a decent outfit. Their top scorer was a chap called Laith El Khatib, who scored over 40 goals, twice as many as any other of his team mates - interesting.

The game is a 13.30 start at Langley Park on Sunday (24th), I would imagine there will be a lot of interest, so make sure you arrive early for parking and best viewing.

The women also begin their campaign for national league hockey. Their first game in their newly promoted East Premier league is this Saturday, midday pushback at Langley Park against Sudbury.

I've also updated some of the menu items on the left, should now point correctly for all the senior sides, for fixtures and results - I'm working on the juniors...

Where's all the news ?

Apologies for being a little slow out of the blocks this season - 2 main reasons, firstly I've now got a job where I actually have to do some work ! and much more excitingly Joely gave birth on Saturday to a lovely baby boy, 8lbs 3oz who we've called Noah, and I'm glad to say both Joely and Noah are doing well, and I've just brought them both home from hospital today.

so it's going to be a little quiet on the website, and very noisy in the Wharton household !
