Indoor Success

On a cold Sunday morning before Christmas, BromBeck Indoor Team travelled down to Fleming Park, Southampton to represent Kent in the South Regional Indoor Finals.

Placed in the stronger of the two groups, we convincingly won their group winning three of the four games, drawing the fourth to their eventual opponents in the final. Strong performances from Weedman and Letch at the back ensured that oncoming attacks were broken down and turned over immediately, whilst the efforts and desire of Dave Evans and Buds upfront proved far too much for the opposition. Wharton added something special up front as well, contributing with some silky skills and fine solo efforts.

As the day went on, the stamina and tempo of hockey slipped slightly due to the inevitable tiredness of the players after a heavy night’s entertainment. However, due to a superb team spirit, we cruised to the final stages, facing Indian Gymkhana in the semis. Once again good performances from Weedman and Letch along with some fine early saves from Taylor meant that the side yet again kept a clean sheet. In the meantime the forwards calmly squeezed the juice out of Gymkhana, scoring at clinical parts of the first half and all this led to comfortable (6-0) victory.

Facing Surrey Flames in the final we started the game at a strong pace and with confidence high and early goals from Evans and Wharton helped settle any possible early nerves. The winning score of 6-0 at the final whistle was fully deserved and means that
we now progress to the National League South Play Offs.
Squad: Taylor, Weedman, Letchford, Bluett M, Bluett N, Wharton, Evans D, Buddell N.

***STOP PRESS*** BROMBECK REACH NATIONAL INDOOR PLAY-OFFS

Already victorious in the Southern play offs, we now represent the South in the National League play offs on January 29th at the Royal Masonic School in Rickmansworth. All support would be much appreciated to spur on the squad to try and gain National League status in only BromBeck’s opening season.

More details and times etc. will follow shortly but in the meantime if you have any queries then please contact Nevil Wharton or Michael Bluett.
