Tragic news

I'm very sad to have to pass on the news that Ben Simpson passed away during the 3rd team match on Saturday.

Ben was 26, a very popular member of both clubs prior to us merging, and with his brother Joe, were very influential members of the the junior section. His enthusiasm, humour and happy go lucky attitude will be much missed.

The thoughts of the whole club are with his family and friends at this time.

If you wish to leave a message, please use the comments facility below, and I will make sure they are passed on to the family.

Cricket : Lydia G all at sea

I meant to post this ages ago, but lost the newspaper article, and it only turned up at the weekend. Anyway another of our cricket internationals Lydia Greenway was featured in a local paper aboard a sea france ferry playing a quick game of cricket, as the image below shows.

Update : Emma G tells me " that in the back ground is Lynsey Askew (BromBeck Ladies 1s) who plays cricket for the England Under 21s "

We've had an email from Becky Penn who would like your help with her A level project, she says...

" Please could you do me a favour and put this questionnaire up on the BromBecks website. It is for my A-level PE Coursework in which I am analysing the impact of stress within different levels of competition i.e. does the level of stress increase with the level of competition. All the instructions are included on the attachment. "

here's the questionnaire, and here's Becky's email address : eeyore_oneuk@hotmail.com

weekend report

Wins for the men's 1, 2's, 2a's and 3's marked a good weekend for the Men's sides, but with the women's 1's not in action the 2's unfortunately lost to (league leaders) Folkstone.

More and more reports are online, and you are encouraged to create and read our reports, Danny Holmes has written up reports of all three of the men's 1's games, and Emma Greenway is doing a very eloquent job on the women's 1's reports. They can all be found, from the menu under 'fixtures and reports'.

Flush with social events today, many thanks to Robbie Wakeman (never thought I'd see myself writing that), for organising the fireworks party at the club. All members of all sections are cordially invited to celebrate Guy Fawkes (sadly unsucessful) attempt to blow up parliament.

Saturday November the 5th, fireworks at 8pm, disco from 9pm, £5 adults, under 18's £2.50, under 7's free.

Gentleman's Dinner

Both former clubs have enjoyed annual dinners, and continuing this tradition we are proud to announce this years Gentleman’s dinner for the benefit of both new and old members of our newly formed club. It is a function generally aimed at the more “mature members”, albeit there has always also been good support from younger members in the higher teams. Tables of 10 are arranged by both teams (younger participants) and friendships. Numbers are limited to a maximum of 80, so FIRST come FIRST serve.

Venue : CHISLEHURST GOLF CLUB, TUESDAY 15th NOVEMBER 2005 - 7.00 for 7.45 PM, £26 per head.

Here's the note, please complete the attached ticket order form are here.

Many Thanks for Stuart Burton for organising this event.
