Michael Nash.

We are very sad to announce the death of Michael Nash, a Founder Vice President of Bromley & Beckenham Hockey Club, at his home on Wednesday 14th September. We extend to his widow Margaret and to Diana,Stephen and Tom, and their families, our sincere condolences.

Michael joined Bromley H.C. in 1952 and had been a Vice President for many years. He played mainly for the 2nd & 3rd XIs and after his playing days were over he umpired the lower XIs for several seasons.

Michael was a kind, thoughtful and popular person who will be sadly missed. There will be a Thanksgiving Service at St. Francis Church, Willet Way, Petts Wood on Thursday 29th September at 2pm. Family flowers only but any donations to Harris Hospicecare or Marie Curie Cancer Care c/o Francis Chappell & Sons, Boundary Place, Sevenoaks, Orpington.

Women's complete fixture listings

Not sure where you're playing next week, want to sneak of for a week's skiing after Christmas ?
Well the ladies fixtures are complete, thanks to the hard work of Nicola Wilkes, and Phil Sheehan, fixture sec. and pitch sec. respectively. Just use the 'Women's fixtures' link in the menu bar on the left.

Announcement of Women's Squads

The initial squads have now been announced and complete lists are available from the menu on the left - ' Women's team selection '

These squads will form the starting base for the league season and players will be continually assessed throughout the season. The weekly selection committee will involve Sam, Owen, Steve Crosley (as a Junior Rep), All Team Captains and myself as Club Captain. This will enable players that have been wrongly selected to progress to higher teams.

There are fixtures for the 1st-6th XI this Saturday 17th and for the 7th XI on Sunday 18th. You will be contacted directly by your captain and will receive an email from me with your captains details.

If anyone has any further questions or comments please do not hesitate to contact either myself or Sam.

Women's Hockey Trials

Thank you to all that attended trials on Saturday. With a total of 85 people in attendance it shows the strength and depth we will have throughout the merged club and proves that it will be a very exciting and challenging season.

It was great to see so many new faces and to see the progession that a number of junior players had made over the previous season. For some it was their first experience of senior hockey and I hope that everyone enjoyed the day.

The morning session was aimed at selecting 1 team for Kent Div 1, 2 teams for Kent Div 2 and 1 team for Kent div 5. With 55 people in attendance it is impossible to make these decisions overnight. Players will continue to be assessed at training. For those that attended the morning session, training will be held on Tuesdays at Worsley Bridge Road from 8pm-9pm.

The afternoon session was to consider players for the 2 teams in East Div 1 and the 1 team in Kent Prem. Any player that was asked to attend the afternoon session is asked to train on Wednesday 7th at Ravensbourne School from 7.30pm-9.30pm. There are further trials this Saturday 10th and players will be invited to these by Wednesday 7th. Invitation to these trials does not guarantee a place in the 1st-3rd XI but it does mean that you are being considered.

We hope to announce the 3rd - 7th XI on Wednesday 14th. The 1st and 2nd XI Squad will be announced but the final breakdown of the two teams will not be decided until 17th September.

If anyone has and questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me via my club email womens.captain@brombeckhc.co.uk or on the mobile number I gave out at trials!

Hope to see you all soon
Emma
